Slow Theatre presents "The Butcher Shop 2018: Mysterious Inheritance,"
a free outdoor festival
of original music, plays, film, art, and dance happening Saturday (September 1) and Sunday (September 2) at 2500 Estes Road in Chico, California.

Grounds open each night at 5:30pm with bar, food trucks, and photo booth. Bring blankets / low-backed chairs if you wish; some seating is available.

A pre-show (live music and DJ) starts at 6pm. Each night is different. Come to both shows to catch everyone!

Bicycling and walking are encouraged; car parking is available for a fee. No dogs allowed.

Admission is free (donations are gratefully accepted).

Limited reserved seating is available with a Supporter's Circle ticket—$25 covers one reserved seat and parking for one vehicle on one night—available at The Bookstore (118 Main Street, Chico) beginning August 1. Please pay by check (made out to Slow Theatre) or cash.

The Butcher Shop is a popular community event that began as a backyard show 29 years ago in the summer of 1989. Conceived by Denver and Dylan Latimer and Casey Simpson, it grew out of Chico's homegrown theatrical and musical talent, and from these efforts Chico’s Blue Room Theatre was born. In 2009, many of the original players—some now working in Los Angeles, New York, and Portland—reunited and added fresh Chico talent to create the current Butcher Shop event, now produced by Slow Theatre.

This is the tenth Butcher Shop production to take place in the orchard at “The End of Normal" (2500 Estes Rd, Chico).

After two years of a one-play format, this year The Butcher Shop will feature several short plays interspersed with film, art, and dance and tableau.
