Join Slow Theatre for another local production of The Butcher Shop, Labor Day Weekend.

Due to COVID-19, Butcher Shop 2020 will be pre-recorded and debuted via Slow Theatre's Facebook and YouTube channels, September 5th and 6th at 8:00pm.

There will also be a socially distanced drive-in movie screening in Chico, California on both evenings at 8:00pm, $25 per car and benefiting Slow Theatre. To purchase one of the tickets for the screening event, visit this link. Audio will be available through your vehicle's FM radio. Seating is extremely limited, so purchase today to reserve your space!

This year's Butcher Shop theme is “The Social Contract,” and is based on Trevor Noah's poignant monologue following the murder of George Floyd. You can view the monologue here.
The production will be made up of multiple narratives including:
  • An animated narrative with words and music by local hip hop artist, Cory "Himp" Hunt
  • A comedic play by Johnny Lancaster featuring Butcher Shop alumni and set in outer space
  • Short films by Eden Martinez

Music by longtime Butcher Shop musical director Webster Moore, accompanied by various members of the Chico music community.

More details on how to view and participate in Butcher Shop 2020 will be shared soon. Tickets for the drive-in screening experience will be made available soon. Thank you for joining us!
